The Role at a Glance

As a Stores Assistant in our Dry Goods Store, you ensure the seamless flow of materials needed for daily production runs. Reporting to the Stores Manager, you’ll monitor inventory levels, organize stock efficiently, and support quality, health, and safety standards across our state‑of‑the‑art Germiston facility.

Key Responsibilities

• Stock Receiving & Verification: Unload deliveries, match invoices or delivery notes against purchase orders, and identify discrepancies. Assistant.

• Put‑Away & Storage: Allocate incoming stock to the correct racks or floor locations, following FEFO (First‑Expired, First‑Out) and FIFO procedures to maintain product integrity.

• Replenishment & Rotation: Keep shelves and pallets fully stocked, rotate goods to prevent expiry, and report damaged or expired items promptly. Assistant.
• Documentation & Record‑Keeping: Log all goods received and issued in the requisition book, capturing Product Code, Description, Quantity, Batch Number, and Stock Balance after Issue.

• Housekeeping & Safety: Ensure your work area is clean, organized, and compliant with Health & Safety regulations. Participate in regular stock counts and ad‑hoc tasks as directed.

• Team Collaboration: Work closely with production, quality, and logistics colleagues to meet daily targets and resolve any stock‑related issues swiftly. Assistant.

Requirements: What We’re Looking For

• Experience: 1–2 years’ experience in a warehouse or store‑room environment, ideally within a food processing or manufacturing setting.
• Education: Minimum Grade 12 / National Certificate.

• Skills & Licenses:
• Valid forklift licence with hands‑on operating experience.
• Basic numerical aptitude and the ability to calculate quantities, rotation schedules, and stock levels.

• Strong attention to detail, especially when checking batch numbers and expiry dates.
• Personal Attributes:

• A proactive, “can‑do” attitude with a commitment to teamwork.
• Reliability and punctuality—essential in a 24/7 production environment.
• Awareness of Health & Safety best practices and the discipline to uphold them.
