The Agricultural Research Council’s Grain Crops division is looking for a Receptionist and Switchboard Operator.

What You’ll Be Doing– Receptionist


• First Point of Contact: Greet visitors, answer and direct phone calls, and respond to general enquiries with professionalism and enthusiasm.
• Information Management: Keep our directories and contact lists up to date.
• Office Upkeep: Monitor and reorder office supplies, ensure shared areas stay tidy and functional. Receptionist.


• Correspondence Handling: Sort, distribute, and prepare outgoing mail and packages.
• Administrative Support: Assist with routine tasks—filing, photocopying, scanning, and much more.
• HR Administration: Maintain personnel records, handle leave forms, and support HR document workflows.
• Travel Coordination: Book trips, manage vehicle allocations, and arrange travel itineraries.


• IT Liaison: Report technical glitches to IT and follow up to resolution.
• Meeting Support: Record meeting minutes and arrange room bookings.
• Event Assistance: Help set up campus events, exhibitions, and public outreach activities.
• Finance Assistance: Process petty cash, advances, and claims against agreed deadlines.


• PR Collaboration: Distribute materials to the Public Relations Officer for timely communications. Receptionist.

What We’re Looking For


• Education: Matric/Grade 12 certificate.
• Experience: Minimum 2 years in a receptionist, front-desk, or administrative role.


• Skills:
• Customer‑service mindset
• Solid computer literacy (MS Office suite)
• Strong verbal and written communication
• Excellent organizational and prioritization abilities. Receptionist.


• Other:
• Valid driver’s licence
• Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team
