Your Next Adventure: Cashier (Permanent)

Contract Type: Permanent, full-time
Why This Role Matters
As the friendly face of Tiger Brands’ bakery counters and customer touchpoints, you’ll ensure every transaction is seamless and every customer leaves with a smile. You’ll be the heartbeat of our retail operations, maintaining accurate cash management, liaising with security partners, and safeguarding our reputation for financial integrity.

This role offers you hands-on experience in a dynamic FMCG environment, with opportunities for skill development and career progression in one of South Africa’s leading consumer goods companies.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Cash Management & Reconciliation
• Accurately count and verify drivers’ deposits, cash receipts, and daily takings
• Balance and reconcile cash drawers against our receipt books at day’s end
• Prepare banking lodgements and submit to Fidelity Guards for secure transport

• Security & Compliance
• Coordinate closely with Fidelity Guards and Coin Security to ensure prompt, safe collection of funds
• Adhere strictly to all cash-handling policies, internal controls, and audit requirements
• Maintain confidentiality and integrity in all financial processes

• Customer Engagement & Team Collaboration
• Deliver friendly, efficient service at bakery kiosks and retail points
• Communicate clearly with store managers, operations staff, and security teams
• Support ad-hoc administrative tasks: updating transaction logs, assisting with inventory counts, and filing deposit records

Who You Are

We’re looking for someone who brings both precision and positivity to every shift:

• Qualifications & Experience
• Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent qualification
• Minimum of 1 year’s cashier experience, preferably within bakery or fast-moving retail environments
• Proven ability to reconcile large volumes of cash, accurately and under pressure

• Skills & Attributes
• Excellent verbal and written communication—fluent in English; additional South African languages an asset
• Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to balancing daily transactions
• Ability to build rapport with customers, colleagues, and security personnel

• Comfortable working weekends, evenings, and overtime during peak periods
