This opportunity is ideally suited for candidates who hold a valid EC1 driver’s license, have a Public Driver’s Permit (PDP), and have prior experience operating heavy vehicles, especially those equipped with truck-mounted cranes.


🔑 Minimum Requirements


To be considered for this important position, candidates must meet the following essential criteria:
🎓 Education:
• Grade 12 (Matric) or an equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification.
🪪 Licensing and Certification:
• A valid Code EC1 Driver’s Licence (also known as a Code 14 license). Truck Driver.
• Valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
• Ability to pass Rand Water’s K53 Driving Competency Test for heavy vehicles.


👷‍♂️ Experience:
• At least 2 years of proven experience driving and operating heavy-duty vehicles.
• Demonstrated ability to operate a truck-mounted crane. Truck Driver.
• Previous work experience in delivery, logistics, waste removal, or utilities is an advantage.


⚙️ Core Duties and Responsibilities


As a Heavy Vehicle Truck Driver at Rand Water, you will perform a broad range of duties that support the daily operations of infrastructure and logistics. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
🚚 Logistics & Transport:
• Safely deliver and collect materials, equipment, and tools between operational sites and storage facilities.
• Transport garden and domestic refuse in compliance with schedule (daily or weekly) and municipal guidelines.


🔧 Vehicle Maintenance:
• Conduct daily inspection and routine checks of vehicles before operation (e.g., brakes, tires, lights, fluids).
• Maintain cleanliness of assigned vehicle and ensure roadworthiness and cleanliness are upheld at all times.
• Identify and report vehicle faults, incidents, or required maintenance to the supervisor promptly.

• Support loading and offloading of tools, building materials, and refuse using safe practices.
• Apply safe stacking, tying, and weight distribution techniques to avoid vehicle imbalance. Truck Driver.
